Supported Implementations:

Vendsure uses an AMP (Apache, MySQL and PHP) platform to function at this time.

Here is one of the packages that VendSure is designed to work with:

Mac OS X: XAMPP

Windows: XAMPPLite & cURL

This is the standard option.

HandHeld Support: A licensed version of HanDBase and a compatible handheld unit, such as an iPAQ for example.

We are looking into other alternatives to provide as many options as possible.

The PDB's to use with HanDBase will be available separately.

Installation How-To

How to install VendSure and any supporting software:

Install the following for OS X:

Tested under: Leopard(10.5)

XAMMP:
• Download XAMPP & Mount the disk image.
• Drag the 'XAMPP' folder to the 'Applications' folder.
• Run 'XAMPP Control'.

Then Install VendSure as follows:

VendSure Installation:
• Un-compress and run the 'Install VendSure' application.

Install the following for Windows:

Tested under: Windows XP, Windows 7

NOTE: Windows 7 may NOT allow you to drag the 'VendSure' directory to the 'Program Files' directory. This appears to be a flaw with Windows 7 at this time. So, if you are testing Windows 7, you may have to manually create the directories and copy/move the files over.

XAMMPLite:
• Download XAMPPLite
• Extract to the root of C:
• Go to 'Local Disk (C:)', click on 'Show the contents of this folder' if prompted
• Go to the directory 'C:\xampplite\' and run 'setup_xampp.bat'
• Run 'xampp-control.exe'
• Start Apache & MySQL (do not check the SVC boxes at this time), if prompted by the firewall, select 'Unblock'

Then Install VendSure as follows:

VendSure Installation:
• Un-compress and drag the VendSure directory to your 'Program Files' directory. Make a shortcut for VendSure on your Desktop for easy access.
• Copy or Move the 'htdocs\vendsure' directory to:
  XAMMPLite = 'C:\xampplite\htdocs\'

cURL Installation: (This is required for geocoding)
• Download cURL
• Scroll down to 'Win32 - Generic'
• Select one of the 'binary Non-SSL' packages for your system
• Extract then copy the 'curl.exe' into the 'VendSure' folder or a folder within your system path.

Running VendSure for the first time:

• Run VendSure and enter your registration information as provided from the email that you received from 'vendsure.net'.
• Select 'Tasks' -> 'Preferences' from the menu bar.
• Click on the appropriate button for whichever install you choose above.
• Click on the 'Create Initial DB' button and click 'Yes' as prompted. When complete, you will see a dialog that VendSure has been reset.
• Click 'Ok' and then 'Save'

You have just completed the hard part and are now ready to begin using VendSure!
